Bunion

December 13th, 2010

In Seattle, a bunion, or Hallux Valgus, is a deformation of the big toe, or 1st metatarsal phalangeal joint, commonly associated with pain and discomfort surrounding that toe. The patient with a bunion is often a middle-aged woman and there is a strong hereditary component.

Bunions (Hallux Valgus) involve lateral deviation of the proximal phalanx of the first toe (big toe). Dr Nadeem Bajwa DC states, the development of bunions can be accelerated by the following conditions: Morton’s deformity, forefoot varus, inflammatory arthritis, and wearing high heels too often. The deviation causes pressure to occur at the first metatarsal phalangeal joint (big toe) with subsequent development of a localized bursitis and bunion formation.

Your chiropractor at Seattle Chiropractor will conduct a comprehensive evaluation, which will include neurological, orthopaedic testing, and diagnostic radiography. This will enable him or her to understand the severity of your bunion. Your chiropractor will custom tailor a plan of recovery designed specifically for you.

Chiropractic Therapy Tennis Elbow

November 23rd, 2010

Seattle tennis elbow also known as Lateral Epicondylitis is the #1 ailment of the upper body.

But tennis elbow is not the sole property of tennis players. When the muscles of the forearm (wrist extensor group) are placed under enormous strain, tennis elbow can result. And this is a frequent occurrence among tennis players, manual laborers, carpenters, secretaries and other such jobs. So basically any activity that involves repetitive wrist extension will cause tennis elbow, says Dr Nadeem Bajwa DC. The pain in tennis elbow is most frequently felt in the tendo periosteal junction where the common extensor tendon (outer part of the elbow) is sourced from. In fact, in 10 cases of tennis elbow, 9 of them would have this. Some patients with tennis elbow say they have radiating pain to the posterior portion of the forearm and wrist area.

The problem with WA tennis elbow is that it takes a long time to heal due to the lack of a tendon sheath. The common extensor origin is more muscle than tendon except that it has poor blood supply so it cannot benefit from the fluid nutrition that is found within a tendon sheath,

Your Chiropractor at Seattle Chiropractor will do the following processes, in order to arrive at a correct diagnosis of the extent of your tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis): history and examination, neurological and orthopaedic tests. Then they will develop a specific plan of management tailored to your case.

Neck Pain Treatment Seattle

November 18th, 2010

Right now, there are about 9 percent of the male population and 12 percent of the female population feeling neck pains. Actually, Seattle neck pain is occurs about half as much as low-back pain. People who have back pain usually take off from work; however, of the 45% of the working population who experience stiff neck, many don’t. As the neck naturally becomes more and more flexible, there is a loss in stability and protection. Since the structure of the neck is delicate in nature, any irritants will cause neck pain.

Oftentimes, neck pain may actually be referring to shoulder pain, and vice versa. Usually when the soft tissues in the neck are injured, neck pain ensues, and can generate pain into the shoulders as well, according to Dr Nadeem Bajwa DC. Whiplash can be another contributing factor. Arthritis in the upper spine can also create pain in the local neck area that radiates into the shoulders. Neck pain can also be related to certain health conditions dealing with the heart, lungs, or spinal cord.

In order to determine the true cause of your neck pain, the chiropractor WA will conduct a thorough examination of your neck. Supporting structures (ligaments, tendons, and muscles), joints, and vertebral discs will be examined as well.

Chiropractor Treatment Muscle Pull

November 8th, 2010

When a muscle-tendon segment is injured, a muscle strain occurs; it is also called a muscle trauma. When some level of injury is seen in the muscle-tendon intersection, the muscle fibers, the tendon or the bony insertion point, a muscle strain is present. Muscle strain in Seattle is categorized based on level of mild, moderate or severe. This is arrived at depending on the clinical findings. An overstretched muscle is the most frequent cause of muscle strain. Muscle pull is another name for a muscle strain.

The typical symptoms of a muscle strain are: stiffness, localized pain, and a bruised feeling. It is not uncommon for people with a muscle strain to develop a knot, otherwise known as a tender point, according to Dr Nadeem Bajwa DC. Bearing down on the tender point in a strained muscle and feeling referred pain, this will be known as the trigger point.

And then, a muscle spasm is the automatic contraction of a muscle when a nerve is activated and pain is felt.

What will your Chiropractor do so he can pinpoint the cause of your muscle strain? He will 1). Take your history and examine you thoroughly and 2). Let you undergo neurological and orthopaedic testing. Then Seattle Chiropractor will design a special plan of management tailor-made to fit your case.

Foot Pain Care Seattle

October 28th, 2010

Inappropriate foot gear or inadequate support are two of the leading causes of foot pain. As stated by Dr Nadeem Bajwa DC, causes of foot pain can include; points of overpressure or irritation from shoes which may result in corns or calluses or aggravation of Hallux Valgus (at the first toe). Shoes that are too small lead to compression of the long bones in the foot (metatarsals) or harm to the toenails, thereby causing foot pain. Excess mobility of the foot and not enough support can be a cause of plantar fasciitis which is often blamed for foot pain. WA foot pain can also come from ankle sprains. The usual type of ankle sprain is plantar flexion with inversion.

In the therapeutic management of foot pain, acute injury is managed accompanied by advice on how to prevent repeat injuries in the future. Foot pain treatment at Seattle Chiropractor often requires a determination of the needs of the associated activity or sport coupled with a strictly adhered-to post injury rehabilitation program.

Your Seattle chiropractor will reach a correct diagnosis of your foot pain and what has caused it after he performs a comprehensive history and examination on you, including neurological and orthopaedic testing and radiography. Based on the examination and tests done, your chiropractor will create a plan of management tailored made just for you.

Joint Pain Chiropractor Care

October 22nd, 2010

Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis, a main characteristic being a decrease in functionality and motion of the joints. Unlike an acute condition, Seattle osteoarthritis is a recurrent and long-lasting illness. It is usually the hip, knees and joints of the hand that are affected in osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is frequently seen in about 50% of people over 55 years old. It can occur in any of the joints in the body. There are two main categories of osteoarthritis:
1. Primary osteoarthritis – may be caused by persistent and extreme strain. A predisposition to it is also brought about by heredity.
2. Secondary osteoarthritis – is frequently caused by trauma.

The primary signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis in WA are:
1. Pain – the first symptom that moves the patient to pursue treatment and care
2. Stiffness – is often felt in the mornings
3. Swelling – is a sign of an inflammatory condition
4. Crepitus – a grating sound made when joint ends rub each other and there is no cartilage to cushion them

Treatment for osteoarthritis at Seattle Chiropractor includes the following:
1. Losing weight – lessens the stress on weight-supporting joints
2. Exercise – increases muscle strength and encourages cartilage formation
3. Diet – rich in Glucosamine sulfate, Chondroitin sulfate, vitamins C and D, and calcium
4. Heat – can be beneficial in minimizing the pain and stiffness of osteoarthritis

Your Chiropractor, Dr Nadeem Bajwa DC, is a licensed professional who will take your history and examine you thoroughly. In addition, he will perform orthopaedic and neurologic tests on you and order diagnostic x-rays to determine how far your osteoarthritis has progressed. With these information at hand, they will develop a management plan appropriate for your case.

Leg Pain Chiropractor Care

October 18th, 2010

With shin splints, the patient complains of pain in the front or back of the lower leg that is insidious in onset upon visiting Seattle Chiropractor. It is not easy to specifically define shin splints. Diseases that are known to cause shin splints are tendonitis, periostitis, muscle strain and interosseous membrane strain.

There are two general categories of shin splints in Seattle: 1. Anterior shin splints – are conditions that concern the muscles located at the front of the leg whose purpose is for shock absorption. When weak or stressed muscles due to continuous walking or running on hard bases and using shoes that are non-shock absorbing occur regularly, the force transfers to the shin bone, and the outcome is a shin splint. 2. Posterior shin splints – involves muscles in the back of the leg. These muscles act as ankle stabilizers and appear to be overstrained when the patient over pronates.

With shin splints, the pain is often at the middle to lower third of the shin bone. An important differential for shin splints is a stress fracture, says Dr Nadeem Bajwa DC. But shin splints are usually not seen in x-rays, as they come out as normal.

These are the processes your chiropractor, of WA, will undertake to correctly diagnose your shin splints: thorough history and examination, neurological and orthopaedic testing, radiographic studies to determine the severity of the condition. After that, they will create a specially designed plan of management for your case.

Allergies

September 10th, 2010

Allergies occur when the immune system has an altered response to a specific antigen. Allergens are antigens that are involved in the allergic reaction. In Seattle, many symptoms have been linked to allergies. Skin, respiratory, and gastrointestinal allergies are more commonly seen than other areas in the body.

Some people have an allergy tendency. They have allergies called atopic allergies since the immune system is responding irregularly. The allergy tendency, according to Dr Nadeem Bajwa DC, is passed down from generation to generation and is associated with high quantities of a specific type of antibody known as IgE. When the immune system detects an allergen in the body, it reacts with an allergen-IgE allergy response.

Your chiropractor at Seattle Chiropractor, will inquire about your health history and perform neurological and orthopedic testing. Afterwards, your chiropractor will design a customized treatment plan for your specific conditions.
